-This past Saturday night we held the 73rd Miss Socastee. We are so proud of each of our 13 candidates, they all did an amazing job. We want to congratulate our winners.

-We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Gorman has been selected as Socastee High School’s Employee of the Month! Mrs. Gorman has been recognized for her upbeat attitude and her dedication to fostering team camaraderie, especially during the holiday season. Her thoughtful efforts to bring people together truly embody the spirit of Socastee. She continually goes above and beyond, always looking for new ways to make our school a better place for both students and staff. Thank you, Mrs. Gorman, for your positivity, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our Socastee family. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition!

- Mu Alpha Theta (Math National Honor Society) members will provide tutoring services for any students who need a little assistance in math. In preparation for final exams, they will start today; and continue until the end of the school year. Tutoring will be offered in the IB Center from 8:05 – 8:20 and 3:20-4:00. Please sign up for tutoring through your math teacher.

-The Bowling Club will have a brief meeting after school on Wednesday in Mr. Haas’s Room 209 from 3:30 to 4:00.
-Two of our Art 3 students have submitted artwork for the MB Airport art contest.
MacKenzie Ward and Julianna Portuese. They have both submitted some beautiful artwork. You can vote online at https://www.flymyrtlebeach.com/artcontest/
Voting ends this Wednesday the 15th.
-Attention Juniors: Palmetto Boys and Girls State Applications are now available. The applications are in the folders outside of Ms. Belchers office. Applications are due January 16th my 3:15pm to Ms. Belcher. Late applications will NOT be accepted, and they must be directly handed to her. You will receive your interview date by January 23rd to your school email. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Belcher

- There will be a Rubik’s Cube Challenge Team meeting in Mr. MacLeod’s, room 314, at 3:25 on Thursday. It’s not too late to join the Socastee team that will compete at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center this spring. If you’re interested, please stop by Mr. MacLeod’s room on Thursday!

-Due to testing there will be no PA announcements the rest of the week. Announcements will be sent to teachers to share with students and available on our page.

Happy New Year Socastee,
-We hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready to finish out the 1st semester.
-Pools and Palms Week 17 Athlete of the Week is Rylee Minehart. Rylee led the Lady Braves in scoring over the Winter Break. She had 89 points in 6 games. She was pivotal to the team being 4-2 in those 6 games. She was also selected as Max Preps Player of the Game 3 out of the 6 games. Rylee has chosen to recognize Math teacher, Alexis Karnes. Rylee says she just enjoyed Mrs. Karnes teaching and she is just an awesome person.

- Boys Lacrosse begin workouts today from 3:30-5:30 out in front of the school. All paperwork must be submitted and approved in BigTeams. If you have any questions, please see Coach Fox in room 225 or email at [email protected]

- Track and Field workouts will also begin today at 3:45. Please have all paperwork completed in Planet HS. Please reach out to Coach Litton in room 321 or email if you have any questions about Track and Field. Remember, track is not just running but also Jumping and Throwing so all types of athletes are needed!
