This morning the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference began at Anderson University. We are proud of these 3 students, Whitney Argabrite, Herman Watson and Laney Barno, who were nominated by the faculty to attend. We hope they have an amazing time and we know they will represent Socastee well.
We celebrated our International Baccalaureate Diploma Recipients this week at the IB Dinner. These students have worked diligently the last 4 years on their academics. But they are not brains alone, they have each excelled in extracurricular activities as well. We are looking forward to see what amazing things this Class of IB students will accomplish!!
This past Monday we had our Fine Arts Signing Day! We are extremely proud of these Braves who will be pursuing their passions after graduation. Congratulations Braves, we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will do!
Our 2nd Annual Kickball Game was very entertaining. Our Juniors took on the other classes and dominated the field…….until the real Braves hit the clay. Our Faculty won 4-3!!!! While the Juniors didn’t give up they were no match to our secret weapon…. 1st year Brave teacher, Mr. Adrian. Thank you to everyone who participated and we can’t wait until next year!
This past Tuesday evening we were entertained by our amazing Orchestra Students!! Ms. Ben Pazi does an outstanding job with these musicians and we are pleasantly surprised by their talents every time they take the stage!
Socastee High School’s Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy attended monthly leader labs this year designed to enhance their leadership skills. The students then implemented the skills they learn such as communication, innovation, and teamwork to create a Spring Impact Project on their choice. This year, the Leader Academy chose to lead the SHS student body as well as the Socastee community in raising enough money to build a “tiny home” for a local homeless veteran. They teamed up with the Veteran’s Welcome Home Resource Center who had acquired land for 40 tiny homes to be built. The Leader Academy raised over $14,000 dollars to build and furnish the tiny home. The fundraising was accomplished through a school wide Rock- A- Thon and a community Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. A plaque will be placed on the side of the tiny home indicating that it was provided by the SHS Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy and community. The house will be built sometime in July of this year and the Academy will receive updates as to the names and progress of the veterans who will occupy the house. The house is intended to be a transition home from homelessness to home ownership. So proud of the impact through action these Leader Academy students have made in their community!
Tonight we recognized our Senior Band Members. We have enjoyed being a part of their journey and have been honored to watch them on stage during their time here at Socastee. We will miss each of them but we are excited to see where their futures will lead. We can only hope that it will continue to lead them to share their musical talents.
Check out these amazing musicians!! Our Jazz Band has some serious skills!!!
Congratulations to the newest inductees of Socastee’s Quill and Scroll Honor Society!!
Join us as we announce the 2023 Teacher of the Year!
