Digital Art & Design with Animation is a two-year major for students interested in graphic & web design, photography, animation, advertising, & marketing.

DC is one of nine majors at the Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology. The Web and "Digital Communications" major is designed for students with a desire to pursue careers such as, Photo Editor, Graphic Artist, Web Page Developer, Webmaster, Illustrator, 3D Animator, and Multimedia Specialist. Ms. Etherson saw an exhibit of Yuyi Morales’s work at the Corpus Christi Art Museum, where she was able to study Morales’s illustrations, book art, and creative process up close. Yuyi Morales is an award winning Mexican American author and illustrator whose work often blends memory, folklore, family, migration, humor, and imagination. Her illustrations are known for their rich color, expressive characters, layered textures, and dreamlike storytelling. Some of her books use traditional painting, while others combine handmade puppets, sets, photography, and digital collage. Seeing the exhibit gave Ms. Etherson a chance to explore how Morales uses art to tell stories that can be understood visually, even before the words are read.
