Seven things to look for in a tutor. A degree isn't first on the list. A credential proves someone knows the subject. It doesn't prove they can teach it to a fifteen-year-old. What actually matters: can they figure out where your kid is stuck, and can your kid stand an hour in the room with them.

Spelling the same word three different ways on one page. Bright, verbal, and somehow not reading at grade level.
