Child Care Director
Little Okie Academy – Muskogee, OK
Position Summary
Little Okie Academy is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Child Care Director to lead our team and ensure every child receives exceptional care in a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the daily operations of the center, including staff leadership, licensing compliance, family communication, enrollment, curriculum oversight, and creating a positive culture for children, families, and employees.
Previous Child Care Director or Assistant Director experience is strongly preferred. This position is best suited for someone who has successfully led a licensed child care center and enjoys building strong teams while maintaining high standards.

Pay: $36,000–$46,000 per year
Responsibilities
Leadership
* Lead, coach, and support teaching staff
* Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate employees
* Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
* Conduct staff meetings and address employee concerns professionally
Operations & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with Oklahoma DHS licensing requirements
* Maintain required records and documentation
* Prepare for licensing visits and inspections
* Oversee staffing schedules, classroom ratios, and daily operations
* Ensure classrooms meet all health and safety standards
Child Development & Program Quality
* Support curriculum implementation and classroom excellence
* Coach teachers in classroom management and child development
* Promote continuous quality improvement and accreditation standards
* Encourage engaging, creative learning environments
Family Engagement
* Build trusting relationships with families
* Conduct tours for prospective families
* Communicate professionally with parents
* Resolve concerns with empathy and professionalism
Business Operations
* Manage enrollment and waitlists
* Assist with budgeting, purchasing, payroll approval, and inventory
* Support healthy enrollment growth and financial performance
Qualifications
Required
* Minimum 21 years of age
* High School Diploma or GED
* Meet Oklahoma DHS Director qualifications
* Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
* Oklahoma Director’s Credential
* Experience working in a licensed child care setting
* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
* CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Pass all required background checks
Preferred
* Previous Child Care Director or Assistant Director experience
* Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
* Experience with Oklahoma DHS licensing regulations
* Experience with NECPA accreditation
* Experience leading teams of eight or more employees
