Kalanu Academy is a school of Survival which has educational program dedicated to teaching the basic survival skills needed for a variety of situations, from simple, everyday struggles to the most devastating catastrophes. We offer a variety of specialized courses, including Women’s Self-Defense, Wilderness Survival, Basic Pistol Handling, and many more. Whether you’re a beginner or veteran survivalist, Kalanu has a class for you! In the Cherokee language, Kalanu means “raven.” In Native American mythology, the raven is often seen as a symbol of trickery and adaptability. Today, ravens are known for their intelligence and problem-solving abilities: for example, many wild ravens have taught themselves how to unzip bags in order to steal food from campsites! Here at Kalanu, we believe these qualities—resourcefulness, creativity, and confidence—are essential to survival in any situation, and it is this belief that stands at the heart of our program. Our instructors are skilled and knowledgeable, and they strive to create a comfortable, friendly learning environment for every student!
