**A little bit about us… and the history behind the name Godsell Farm! 🌾❤️**

One question we get asked often is, **“What does the name Godsell Farm refer to?”** So today, I thought I’d take you back to the beginning and share a little about our family, the farm, and how it all came to be.

**Godsell is Mark’s last name**, and it has a long history in the Hales Corners and Franklin area. One of the Godsell family members started the State Bank, which eventually became part of what is now Associated Bank. There is also a Godsell Street and the Godsell Home in Hales Corners.

If you head into Franklin, you’ll find the **Godsell-Sheehan Log Cabin** at Lions Legend Park, right off Loomis Road/Highway 36. The cabin was originally located on St. Martin’s Road and is part of the early history of the Franklin area. Next to the cabin is the beautiful St. Peter’s Chapel from the 1800s.

And that brings me to one of our favorite memories… **20 years ago, Mark and I were married in that very St. Peter’s Chapel! ❤️** After the ceremony, we took photos at the Godsell-Sheehan Log Cabin. Then, following Mass, we climbed into a horse and buggy and made our way back to the farm!

Now, the trip home by horse and buggy took about **an hour and a half** and was escorted all the way by the Franklin motorcycle police. Our guests, however, arrived at the farm in about **10 minutes**! 😂 They were greeted by the wonderful staff from the Machine Shed, who catered our wedding reception.

Things definitely changed after Mark and I got married, and the farm became a little more active than he probably ever imagined! Over the years, Godsell Farm has been the home of many children’s birthday parties, farm breakfasts and dinners, school tours, and so much more.

Today, things are a little different. We are now focused on being a working farm and sharing what we love with all of you through our **farm stand, fresh eggs, honey, and more**. We also work with **14 schools**, providing fertile eggs **free of charge** so students can experience hatching chicks right in their classrooms. 🐣

We have always loved doing things the old-fashioned way around here, using antique equipment for many of our farm tasks and sharing that appreciation and knowledge with others.

So that is a little bit about **who we are, where the Godsell name comes from, and how Godsell Farm came to be what it is today.** 🌾

It’s a beautiful day and a good time to come to the farm stand for corn, tomatoes, assorted veggies, limited sourdough bread, pickles and honey. And a new addition is fresh made butter sold in one stick portions-great on homemade sourdough 🍞 🧈 open 10-4.
