Mrs. Gaydos’s and Mrs. Stealey’s 4th grade classes had a fun-filled day at the Fort Pitt Museum adding to their already extensive knowledge of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. Much of what they had read about and studied in ELA was brought to life through hands on activities and real life objects. They also learned about the history of Pittsburgh and enjoyed lunch around the Point State Park Fountain.

The 4th graders from Mrs. Shaffer’s and Ms. Ulam’s classes enjoyed a trip to the where they learned about the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and Pittsburgh history while exploring artifacts from each time period. They also visited the oldest building in Pittsburgh during their trip!

Students in Mrs. Sharpnack and Mrs. Hagerman’s first grade classes got a special delivery yesterday from high school art students in Mrs. Schepis’ Art Class.
The first graders have been working hard on paragraph writing, and as a culminating activity, they designed a monster and wrote a paragraph describing it. Little did they know that this wasn’t just an assignment but that something bigger would be happening with their project. Secretly, the papers went off to the high school to be turned into unique creations. The high school students worked hard to sew the monsters with various materials and create a unique comic about the monsters.
Yesterday was the big reveal as the high school students took a field trip to visit the classes and meet the students who created the monsters. To say that the first graders were excited is an understatement. We were blown away with the talent of these high school students. What a special memory for everyone!
