Hey people:

The Canball tournament is tonight, and we kick off our annual food drive for the Muscatine Community! The tourney is 7PM tonight in the Van Hecke, so bring over some canned goods.

But it doesn't stop there--there is a month-long competition to see which classroom can raise the most donations. And friends, this couldn't come at a more appropriate time. Many members of our community rely on SNAP benefits, and they are facing a very difficult situation. Everyone deserves to know where their next meal is coming from and ensure that their family is fed. We can help in their time of need!

Biggest takeaways: our community needs help amid this SNAP benefit freeze. It looks like it may be partially funded, but our community needs help NOW. Let me be very clear--EVERYONE deserves to be fed. We can help with that and we can win this food drive challenge if we get everyone engaged! If you can't donate, ask McKenna Schumaker, Laina Wheeler, or Mrs. Huot to see how you can best help!

A great suggestion from Varsity Treble this morning was to skip a regular weekly purchase this week--maybe a Starbucks or Black Pearl drink, maybe an energy drink that you buy every day--and instead put that money toward a few cans of food. What a great idea!

When the chips are down, we need to take care of each other. This has to be an "Endgame" moment where all the portals open and everyone in the MCU (Muscatine Community Unit) shows up to fight Thanos (hunger). LET'S GET IT DONE.

The Chamber Choir is traveling to Coe College in Cedar Rapids for a collaboration concert tonight! We’ll be singing with Coe, Vinton-Shellsburg HS, and Iowa City HS. The concert starts at 7PM and is free and open to the public!

We had victories on behalf of our students at auditions today—the students were so prepared, poised, and good-natured all day long at All State auditions! We are proud to say that three Muskies were selected for the All State Choir this year. We’re even PROUDER of the work every single student did this All State season, and our choirs are stronger for these kids!

These two fine people (McKenna Schumaker left, Lexi Taylor right) were selected as Outstanding Soloists in the Coe Jazz Choir Solo Competition! 🏆 Even cooler: only six of these awards were given out of the nearly FORTY soloists that performed today, meaning Muskies took a third of those awards!! 🤯 How cool is that?? Congratulations to both! 🎉

Lexi was also recognized as the Outstanding Soloist from Muscatine out of all eight of our soloists—great job, Lexi! 🏆 🎶

Jazz, Etc. had their best performance to date—we are so proud of our Muskies!

Look at these people! Jazz, Etc. performed tonight at IHSMA State Jazz Contest and did awesome! We were down two singers due to illness, but they stepped up to the plate in a big way. Still waiting on results, but we’re so proud of them no matter what the rating!

A contingency of our Muskie Chamber Choir sang the national anthem at the Cake Auction tonight and did an awesome job!! 🤩🎶🇺🇸 We’re proud to represent this music program and our community tonight—GO MUSKIES!!💜💛
