Hello MOSS Families,

We wanted to remind you about our Millie's Dine to Donate this Thursday from 5:00–8:00 PM! Come out to support Mother of Sorrows School, enjoy some delicious ice cream, and get the scoop one day early on who your student(s)' homeroom teacher will be!

MOSS staff members will be at the front of Millie's with envelopes labeled with your student(s)' names. Inside, you'll find your child's homeroom teacher for the upcoming school year. We have envelopes prepared for students in PK3 through 8th grade.

If you're unable to attend, don't worry! Homeroom teachers will send a welcome email to all families on Friday at 10:00 AM with classroom information.

We hope to see you there for a fun evening supporting MOSS!

Dear Catholic School Families,

We are pleased to share some positive news regarding the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.

Over the weekend, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed the 2026–2027 State Budget. Thanks to the tremendous advocacy efforts of Catholic school families and supporters across Pennsylvania, the EITC Program remains fully funded, with no changes to the program as it currently exists.

When concerns arose earlier this year about proposed legislation that could have significantly impacted EITC scholarships, you responded. You contacted your legislators, shared your stories, and made your voices heard. Your outreach helped demonstrate the importance of this program to students, families, and schools throughout our Diocese and across the Commonwealth.

This outcome would not have been possible without your advocacy. Your voice was heard, and your efforts made a difference.

On behalf of the Diocese of Greensburg Catholic Schools, thank you for your support, your engagement, and your continued commitment to Catholic education. Together, we have helped preserve a vital resource that makes a Catholic education accessible for so many families.

With gratitude,

Dr. Nancy Rottler
Superintendent of Catholic Schools

Dear Catholic School Families,

As we enjoy the summer months and look ahead to another school year, I remain deeply grateful for the strength of our Catholic school community and the opportunities that support our students. However, I am writing today to share an urgent concern that directly impacts our families and schools.

One critical source of support for our community is the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, which provides tuition assistance to more than 1,200 students in the Diocese of Greensburg. These scholarships make Catholic education accessible and affordable for countless families.

At this time, that support is at serious risk.

Catholic school superintendents across Pennsylvania have been alerted to House Bill 2632 (HB 2632), which proposes eliminating EITC funding for Catholic schools. This legislation would dismantle the current EITC program and replace it with a system that adds additional procedural steps while cutting $102 million in funding while putting thousands of students at risk of losing access to the education that best serves them.

Families in our Diocese rely on EITC scholarships, parish supported financial aid and private contributions such as our TOPS program to assist with providing their children with a high-quality, faith-based education. If passed, HB 2632 would effectively remove this vital opportunity, leaving many families without these financial resources and placing significant strain on our Catholic schools.

Removing the EITC program would have a significant impact on students, families, and schools throughout our Diocese. At this critical moment, your voice matters more than ever. As a unified group of Catholic superintendents, we urgently ask you to take action.

Please contact your legislators today. Thank them for their past support of EITC and strongly urge them to oppose HB 2632. Your voice is essential to preserving educational choice and ensuring that our students can continue to thrive in Catholic Education.

Thank you for standing with us and for your continued commitment to Catholic education in the Diocese of Greensburg.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nancy Rottler
