Teacher Innovation in Action! 💡

Over the summer, middle school social studies teacher Mr. Ripple built an incredible hands-on Augmented Reality (AR) sandbox to bring geography lessons to life! Using a projector, Xbox Kinect, computer, and wood, combined with free software downloaded from the University of California, Davis, he created an interactive, high-tech learning tool.

Here's how it works in the classroom👇

Real-Time Interactive Learning: As students dig and construct hills, mountains, and valleys in the sandbox, a 3D rendering of the box is projected onto the screen, changing in real time for the entire classroom to see.

Visualizing Earth Systems: The sandbox showcases exactly how land impacts water flow and why natural disasters happen.

Recreating Landscapes: Students can recreate geographic features like sand plains and river valleys.

Connecting Geography to Humanity: The tool teaches students how physical geography impacts where and why people live where they do.

Kudos to Mr. Ripple for prioritizing innovation and creating an engaging, immersive, and dynamic environment for his students! 👏🌍

The Franklin Regional Panther Foundation is proud to support a love of reading from an early age through our partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Through this program, children under the age of 5 who reside in the Franklin Regional School District can receive a free, age-appropriate book delivered to their home every month, helping families build a home library and creating special opportunities to read together. 📬📚

🏆 Congratulations to FR Senior Ben Chiarizio, who was selected as the recipient of the Jerome Bettis Leadership Award presented by and ! 🏈

👏 This honor recognizes Ben’s ability to go above and beyond to provide mentor-like support and leadership to his teammates. His commitment to encouraging and supporting others is a true example of Panther pride! 🐾

💰 As part of this honor, Ben will receive a $1,000 donation to the FR football program! The Steelers will also feature Ben on the Steelers High School Showcase Game of the Week, presented by Giant Eagle and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, at 7 p.m TONIGHT!

FRSD is operating on a 2-hour delay schedule today, Friday, Sept. 4, due to storms impacting our area. Students should report to school or their bus stops 2 hours later than scheduled. As a reminder, breakfast is not served on 2-hour delay days. Thank you.

Congratulations Franklin Regional Senior High School senior Regan Lynch, who has been selected as a 2026–2027 Mini-THON Ambassador by Four Diamonds!

In this role, Regan will serve as an advocate and leader, helping Mini-THON schools network, share ideas, and unite in the mission to conquer childhood cancer.""Mini-THON for me means turning compassion into action and has shown me the power of coming together for something bigger than myself,"" Regan shared. ""I'm excited to lead as an ambassador because I want to help others find that same purpose, passion, and belief that every person has the power to make a difference.""

Since starting in 2023, Franklin Regional's Mini-THON has raised over $90,000 For The Kids®. These funds support childhood cancer research and cover outstanding medical expenses for families at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital. This year, the team has set a goal to raise $45,000! Best of luck this year!

Our Middle School Geometry classes put their skills to the test as they searched for hidden treasure! Students used geometry concepts, problem-solving, and teamwork to navigate their way to the prize. 📐🔎

Welcome, Class of 2039! 💙💛

On Friday, Aug. 28, our littlest Panthers had their first full day of kindergarten! 🐾

From new friends and classroom routines to plenty of learning and discovery, the Class of 2039 is officially on its way!
