This week, my son Luke, my wife Robyn, and I got the privilege of traveling to Honduras for a medical mission. Participating in relief efforts is perhaps my favorite thing about being a physician. Every time I can, I do my best to provide care for those who need it. Experiences like these remind me of the core values of our practice: to provide care and help every patient that walks through our doors

It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved friend and provider, Jared Newman. As most of this valley already knows, Jared was involved in an airplane accident on July 4th that took his life far too soon. Words cannot express the loss we feel and the heaviness our hearts feel for his family. Jared will live on in our memories forever. From his dad jokes and witty humor to his compassion and giving, loving heart, he will be sorely missed by everyone he encountered. We ask that you please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they find their way through this difficult time. Due to many many requests, we have provided the link to the GoFundMe (created by the family) should you want to contribute.
With heavy hearts,
Southern California Spine & Joint Institute

Most people think of trade school in the sense of HVAC, electricians, etc. But did you know that a Medical Assistant program is considered a trade school also? Medical Assistants can either go through a vocational school or a junior college for their degree/certificate. Here at SCSandJI our medical assistants are vital to our practice running smoothly and effeciently. Trade schools offer great opportunities for those who are dedicated to learning a trade without going to a 4 year college. We want to thank our MA's for all of their hard work and dedication to our practice. So, thank you ladies for all that you do!

We are lucky to have our own resident teacher here at SCSandJI! Dr. Kelling has been teaching at the VA for many years and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from him daily. We are also lucky to care for and treat so many patients who are also teachers, some of which have even taught our own kids over the years! Thank you to all teachers who inspire people and students every day. Show a teacher you know some appreciatioin today!

It's the weekend! After a long but rewarding week of treating patients, we're all looking forward to a relaxing couple of days which is what we hope our patients are doing too! As always, we're on call for any emergent calls but otherwise, we're going to sit back, relax and rejuvenate so we can be 100% for our patients next week! What are you're fun or relaxing plans for the weekend?!
