I focus on getting each of the kids engaged on our daily routine. This will also help them be more routine at home. I do not believe in sticking them in front of the TV all day, or giving them tablets to pass the time. The excessive screen time delays their cognitive, emotional, and social developments, which are crucial in their early development years, before age 5. I have a daily, structured schedule that has a balance of play and learning time. While play is one of the most important mediums through which a child develops (for example: role play, creativity, collaborating with peers), I make it a priority on a daily basis to have an academic lesson as well. Every week (sometimes two weeks depending on students learning speed and topic), we will have a different theme/topic we go over to help them get an excellent head start in their elementary school education. Academic basics like colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and days of the week are covered and frequently reviewed; but I also do broader topics like learning about the 5 senses, fairy tales, insects/bugs, food groups, empathy/compassion for others, just to name a few. I use songs, books, and crafts to make our topics engaging and fun. I am now open from 7am-530pm Monday-Friday, and host occasional date nights on a Saturday or Friday night every couple of months, or on request, for the parents. Special situations please ask. I serve three home-made, healthy, and balanced meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack) which are included in the weekly tuition. There is fruit, whole grains, and vegetables served on a daily basis with an organic option for fruits and vegetables for only an extra $1/day. Contact me for a tour!
