On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Murrieta Police Department in conjunction with several other City and Riverside County Emergency Response Agencies will be hosting the Murrieta Valley High School Every Fifteen Minutes Program. This program is sponsored by local businesses in the community and is a re-enactment of a fatal DUI traffic collision on the grounds of the high school. The entire sophomore, junior and senior class students will view the mock traffic collision on April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

This emotionally charged program is designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and using drugs. This powerful program challenges students to think about drinking and drugs, safe operation of their automobiles, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions.

Numerous police, fire, and ambulance personnel will be responding to Murrieta Valley High School with red lights and sirens at 11:05 AM. There will also be a helicopter from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department landing on school grounds at 11:25 AM to airlift one of the “critically injured” students to a trauma center. This entire event is a mock traffic collision scene. There is no actual emergency and no students, faculty, or staff at the high school are injured or are in any danger during the staged program.

The program will conclude with a mock “funeral” assembly and the sophomore, junior and senior student body will attend on April 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
