🍎 🥪 Take Back the Lunch Break, Utah! 🥪 🍎

Today is National Take Back the Lunch Break Day—a reminder that everyone deserves time to reset, recharge, and take care of themselves during the workday. For Utah’s education support professionals, this isn’t just about a lunch break—it’s about respect, dignity, and fair working conditions.

From bus drivers and custodians to paraeducators, nutrition workers, office staff, and more, USEA members keep our schools running. Yet too often, lunch breaks are shortened, interrupted, or skipped entirely to meet the needs of the job.

That’s not sustainable—and it’s not right.

🤝 As a union, we stand together to:
• Protect uninterrupted, duty-free lunch breaks
• Advocate for fair schedules and workloads
• Ensure every ESP is treated with respect

Taking your full lunch break isn’t just self-care, it’s solidarity. When we stand together and insist on the time we’ve earned, we strengthen our voice and profession.

💬 Today, we encourage all USEA members to:
• Take your full lunch break
• Support coworkers in doing the same
• Speak up if your break time is not being honored

Because when we protect our time, we protect each other. 💙

🇺🇸 ✨ HONORING JUNETEENTH ✨ 🇺🇸
June 19th—Freedom Day

The Utah School Employees Association proudly joins in recognizing Juneteenth, a powerful day marking the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865.

🖤❤️🩷💛
📚 Why it matters:
Juneteenth is not just history—it’s a call to action. As school employees, we help shape the future by creating spaces where every student belongs, feels valued, and can thrive.

🌟 Today we reflect and celebrate:
📖 The importance of teaching honest, inclusive history
🤝 Our shared responsibility to build equitable schools and communities
✊ The resilience and contributions of Black Americans

💡 Moving forward together:
Let’s continue uplifting one another, fostering understanding, and ensuring that education is a place of opportunity for all.

🚨 PROTECT YOUR UNION MEMBERSHIP 🚨

Our union is more than just membership—it’s our collective voice. Together, we stand up for what matters most: our students, our schools, and the future of education.

✅ Because we stood united, we’ve already won real improvements—like pay raises and protected planning time that makes a difference in our daily lives.

But here’s the reality…
Not everyone wants us to succeed. Anti-education politicians see our strength as a threat and are working to silence our voices—even targeting how we pay our dues by eliminating automatic payroll deductions.

💡 We can fight back—together.
By switching your payment method to AutoPay, you help ensure our union stays strong, protected, and ready to advocate for: 📚 Better learning conditions for our students
🧑‍🏫 Stronger working conditions for ESPs
✊ A united voice that cannot be ignored

👉 Take action today. Protect your membership. Protect our future.

The Trump administration is moving the Office for Civil Rights and the programs that support students with disabilities and their families out of the Department of Education.

This unprecedented political move would mean unqualified people leading some of the nation’s most crucial education programs—and the consequences for our students could be serious. Our students deserve better. Join us virtually to learn more and take action.
