Tonight the Granite Board of Education voted to increase the property tax in favor of students, teachers, and schools. While the GEA Board of a Directors did not take a formal position, several board members were in attendance and some spoke in favor of the increase.

Many GEA members have invited Superintendent Horsley to visit their classrooms over the next three weeks, and the first visit kicked off today at Cyprus High School with GEA President Michele Jones!

Did you know? You can invite the superintendent, other district leaders, members of the Granite Board of Education, or legislators to visit your classroom.

A classroom visit gives them a firsthand look at what youā€™re experiencing, the challenges youā€™re facing, the support you need, what youā€™re celebrating, and so much more.

If you invite a Board member or legislator, please let your administrator know so they can be available for the visit as well.

Your classroom is where the work happens. Invite decision-makers in and let them see it for themselves!

šŸ“£ SPED teachers deserve their planning time and lunch breaks!

The GEA Special Education Committee kicked off the school year with a simple way to raise awareness about an important issue facing SPED teachers. SPED teachers and Association Representatives (ARs) were invited to wear a sticker encouraging their colleagues to learn more about SPED teachersā€™ negotiated rights and the challenges they often face in being able to use them.
