Wednesday afternoon — Are you coming to sing “Don’t Give Up On Me” with your AISU friends? It's in the choir room after school. We'll start at around 3:15 and we hope to be done by 4:15, or sooner, if we're awesome.

Be prepared to sing the song several times. This is a recording session.

Check previous posts for details! There are rehearsal tracks, sheet music, lyrics pages, and the original song we’re covering on YouTube. Come as prepared as possible!

I don’t know who will come! We might have many, maybe even too many, or we might have few.

I like the suggestion to wear AISU colors: red, white, blue, and light blue.

The AISU Instrumental Department invites you to our end of year concert on Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm in the PAC.

Join us for some wonderful performances by the Concert Band, String Orchestra, and Symphony. Admission is free and it's guaranteed to be "short and catchy!"

AISU music teachers Kimberly Marsden and Matt Huntley would like to create a video that features the students and staff of AISU, as a send-off to everyone, that also sends our own message to the state.

PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING DETAILS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE:

Students and staff that feel they can learn this song in five days may come and sing. We are working on getting copyright permission to post our cover of the following song.

Listen very closely to the children's parts on the video, which are slightly different from the lead singer's part. The children are singing in two parts. Pick up and sing whichever one you want. Grownups and older students, please learn the same parts the children are singing on the video, in the range of the children's voices, or down an octave if necessary. (Extra hint: If you know how triads or part singing work, pick a note in between that fits your high range if you are men, and middle-to-low range if you are women.)

We'll meet in the choir room next Wednesday after school to video record it. If there are a lot of people, we'll just pack in like sardines. We'll project the words of the song on the screen, but try to be completely memorized!

Matt Huntley, our choir director, will sing lead and we will all sing back up. We'll probably have younger children back up the first verse, and everyone plus younger children back up the second verse and the end.

We are excited to see what we can pull off in this short time! Let your passion shine!

Hi friends! Still need to rent your band or orchestra instrument for the upcoming new year? Would you like to come meet the new band teacher and joke with the old orchestra teacher? Then come to the orchestra room at AISU tomorrow (Wednesday) night from 5:30pm-7pm!

Summerhays Music Center will have lots of instruments to choose from and we would love to answer any questions about the upcoming year. Go Dragons!

THEATRE AUDITIONS

Hi all! I'm Alex Camastro, your new theatre teacher/director! I will be holding auditions for a Theatre Conservatory and the school musical within the next few weeks. Sign ups for Theatre Conservatory Auditions will be attached to this post. School musical auditions sign ups will be posted tomorrow after we announce the show!

High School Theatre Conservatory Auditions
Who: Incoming freshmen or any student not previously enrolled in High School Theatre Conservatory. *If you were placed in this class in previous years, you do NOT need to audition.
When: Wednesday, August 22nd, 3:15pm-5:15pm. Each student must sign up for one 5 minute slot.
Where: Choir Room
What: One 30 sec to 1 minute monologue, one 16-32 bar cut of a song, please bring sheet music or a track without vocals to us (sheet music preferred but track acceptable).

I know this is last minute but please do not let that discourage you from auditioning. Bring anything you have prepared and I will love to see it!!

School Musical Auditions
Who: High School students in good academic standing
When: Thursday, August 30th, 3:15pm-5:15pm Each student must sign up for one 5 minute slot. Callbacks will be held by invitation on Friday, August 31st from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
What: One 16-32 bar cut of any musical theatre piece. Please bring sheet music. Callback materials will be provided.
*Note: Many of these rehearsals will be held during the end of first trimester intensive with some after school rehearsals between now and then*
