When Val’s estranged daughter Jéssica comes to town to prepare for a crucial college exam, this carefully constructed world starts to unravel in surprising and darkly hilarious ways that probe Brazil’s class and gender dynamics.

Constitution Day is happening today! Join four sessions examining timely questions about citizenship, federalism, local government and liberty. Thursday, September 17 in the Curris Center Theater. All events are free and open to everyone.

**Session 1 (9:30 – 10:20 a.m.): "Misconceptions and Recent Developments in the Birthright Citizenship Case" presented by Dr. Chris Hendricks, attorney at law.

**Session 2 (10:30 – 11:20 a.m.): “Trump v. Barbara, a Birthright Citizenship Case.” presented by Dr. Paul Foote, Department of Political Science and Sociology.

**Session 3 (11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.): "Constitution Forgot: Local Government, Tenth Amendment, and the 90,000 Governments of America" presented by Dr. Brenton Hereford, Department of Political Science and Sociology.

**Session 4 (2:30 – 3:20 p.m.): Panel Discussion titled "Did the Constitution Reflect the Promises of Liberty in the Declaration?" featuring Dr. Jim Humphreys, Dr. Brian Clardy, and Dr. Olga Koulisis from the Department of History.

Calling all history teachers!

The Department of History invites educators K-12 to register for a half-day PD on the Declaration of Independence!

This small-scale workshop offers a content panel and an instructional strategies session while fostering reflective practice and meaningful connection among participants. Lunch and PD Certificate provided.

From the Declaration's drafting to its Atlantic world context, using storyboards or connecting to women's history, come brainstorm how you can reshape your lesson plans on this most important primary source!

All sessions led by Department of History faculty.

Updated information regarding Saturday’s Festival of Champions!

With the heat index projected to be above 100° on Saturday afternoon, Festival of Champions has altered the format to a single round of competition. The first band will take the field at 6:00PM. We appreciate everyone's continued support of FOC and the Racer Band. This event generates a considerable amount of the budget for all the Murray State Bands. Please join us for a fantastic evening of performances!
