Today, USEA proudly celebrates the incredible custodians who keep Utah’s public schools clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for learning every single day.

From early mornings to late nights, custodians are the unsung heroes who quietly make a huge difference. They clean up messes, solve problems, lend a helping hand, and create environments where students and educators can thrive.

💪 They battle mystery spills. 🏆 They deserve gold medals for finding lost items. 🦸 They keep our schools running behind the scenes. ❤️ And they do it all with dedication, care, and pride.

To all the custodians across Utah: THANK YOU! Your hard work does not go unnoticed and our schools simply would not be the same without you.

Talia Casares, a sixth-grade Spanish Dual Language Immersion teacher at Moroni Elementary in North Sanpete School District, is Utah’s 2027 Teacher of the Year!

Casares connects language and literacy with science and technology, helping students build both skills and confidence. She has been a public educator and UEA member for nine years.

Casares continues a legacy of UEA members who have earned Utah Teacher of the Year honors. UEA President Renée Pinkney was there to congratulate one of our own on this tremendous achievement. Congratulations, Talia!
