I’m Zach Garrett, a professor at Murray State University. I’m studying the language that people in a community use to describe their relationship with nature and the environment. The communities near the Shawnee National Forest have a complex relationship with nature, shaped by the immediate presence of nearly 285,000 acres of wilderness.
I am from this community (the Simpson area, in Johnson County) and I believe that local residents have something to offer to the broader conversation about people and their relationship with their environment.
I’m collecting survey data and I’m looking for Shawnee National Forest area residents who would be willing to participate.
