Two Murray High School graduates pursuing careers in education have been selected as recipients of the Coach Mark Brady Scholarship, a scholarship established to support local students as they prepare to become the next generation of teachers.

Brandon Daughaday and Madelyn Sugg, members of the Murray High School Class of 2026, will receive the scholarship as they begin their studies at Murray State University this fall. Daughaday plans to major in secondary education, while Sugg will pursue a degree in middle school education through Murray State’s College of Education and Human Services.

Hands-on learning is an essential part of preparing future speech-language pathologists.

Today, students in our Speech-Language Pathology program completed CPR training, gaining valuable skills that help ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals and communities they will serve throughout their careers.

Congratulations to Dr. David Whaley, dean of the Murray State University College of Education and Human Services, on being recognized as a Kentucky Colonel—the Commonwealth's highest civilian honor. 👏

Dr. Whaley received this distinction in recognition of more than 50 years of dedicated service to education and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as a high school teacher, professor, director, assistant dean and dean, consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership, integrity and an unwavering commitment to student success.

What does it mean to stay safe in an AI-powered world? 🤖

Dr. Miguel Gomez, Middle School Program Coordinator, presented Stranger Danger AI to students participating in Explore 101. Through engaging discussion and real-world examples, students learned about the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence while exploring their academic interests and building new friendships. 💙✨

Learning extends far beyond the classroom. 💙

Last week, our speech-language pathology students stepped into the community to gain valuable hands-on experience through screenings, assessments, and meaningful interactions with residents. Experiences like these allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings while developing the skills and compassion that will define their future careers.

We are grateful for community partners who create opportunities for our students to learn, serve, and build lasting connections. The week concluded with a festive luau celebration filled with laughter, friendship, and plenty of smiles—a perfect reminder of the impact these experiences have on everyone involved. 🌺☀️💦,

When Dr. Jessica Pryor, assistant professor in early childhood and elementary education, began redesigning her EDU 626 course for the spring semester, she decided to take an unconventional approach: allowing artificial intelligence to help teach the class.

EDU 626, an asynchronous educational technology course offered through the Instructional Technology Endorsement program in the College of Education and Human Services, introduces graduate students to ways technology can be effectively integrated into educational settings.
