Jennifer Graviet, a longtime UEA member and former Weber Education Association president, is one of 48 educators nationwide receiving the 2027 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Brenda teaches at Mountain View Elementary in Layton and represents the Davis Education Association on the UEA Board of Directors.

UEA is member-led at every stage of an educator’s career. 🍎

Trudy Henderson represents UEA/NEA Lifetime members on the UEA Board of Directors, bringing the perspective and experience of retired educators to our union’s work.

Retirement may change an educator’s role, but it doesn’t have to end their voice, advocacy, or connection to public education.

The UEA is led by educators who know Utah students and public schools firsthand.

Jana Duersch teaches students ages 18 to 22 with disabilities in Ogden City School District's Adult Transition Program, helping them develop skills for work, daily life, and continued education.

Jana has belonged to our union for all 29 years she's worked in Utah public schools. On UEA's Board of Directors, she brings that experience to the decisions guiding the UEA and our work across the state.

The Utah Education Association is heartbroken by the sudden passing of Talia Casares, sixth-grade Spanish dual language immersion teacher at Moroni Elementary, UEA member and Utah’s 2027 Teacher of the Year.

Just days ago, Utah’s education community celebrated Talia for the creativity and care she brought to her classroom. Talia’s commitment to making every student feel valued and empowered was at the heart of her work as a public educator and leader.

Our hearts are with Talia’s family and loved ones, her students and colleagues at Moroni Elementary, and the entire North Sanpete school community as they grieve this devastating loss.

UEA joins educators across Utah in mourning Talia and honoring the remarkable impact she made on her students, her profession and public education in our state.
