LIFE AT THE VILLAGES-UPDATE
Now that we have lived in The Villages for several months, we thought an update on the lifestyle might be interesting. Many of you know Joe was reluctant to move to TV. However, after several months he now thinks it was the right decision. The housing market here is definitely a seller's market. The average price has gone up at least 10% (pool homes have jumped an average of $100,000-primarily because the wait time for a pool is now 2 years). Homes often sell before the listing becomes available to the public. High end homes have also increased in price. In recent weeks, two home have sold for 2.6 and 2.1 million. The previous high sale was a bit of 1.8M.
The primary reason that Joe now loves TV is because of the lifestyle. Anything you might want to do is here. We have become Platform Tennis players (and we had never heard of the sport before we moved here). There are 3 nine hole golf courses within 5 mins of our home and 2 more within 15 mins. Everything is Included in your $170 amenity fee. Whether you own a 200k home or a 2M home, everyone pays the same fee and access to the same amenities.
Our day normally consist to platform tennis in the morning and golf in the afternoon. We stay so busy playing, we have had to drop a few other activities.
TV offers lifestyle visits so if anyone would like to try it out, it is easy to come for a visit.

Shooting At The Villages FL:
The Villages Gun Club has over a 1000 members but shooting is limited to an indoor range (membership required or $20 per visit) where there are "supervised" shooting for members (i.e. the club provides RSOs). There is a limited IDPA/Steel shoot at an outdoor range once or twice a month. Bullseye and Bench Rest are also available at the indoor range. Overall, the Chatuge Club and the former Practical Pistol Range (now Cherokee Gun Range) offer more opportunities for training and matches.
Joe and I will be in our first competition with the new Club this week. We will post photos after the event.

We Are Relocating:

Family obligations require us to relocate to Central Florida so we must say goodbye. The Practical Pistol Gun Range has been acquired by Cherokee Guns (Murphy NC).

We will continue to offer firearm training and NRA and concealed carry classes in Florida

NEW TRAINING FACILITY

We, in conjunction with Cherokee Guns (Murphy NC), are pleased to announce that beginning in December we will have new classroom facilities which will allow more participants in each class. We have seats available beginning January 9, 2021.

We have also increased our instructor and range safety officer staff. We can now provide 10 NRA certified instructors for one on one training during live fire.

TO ALL TRAINING COUNSELORS, INSTRUCTORS AND RANGE SAFETY OFFICERS

Are you as safe as you should be. An RSO for a competition was recently killed when a competitor dropped a firearm which then discharged. We will never know if the incident was preventable. However, we must remember that although most modern fi****ms have internal safeties which should prevent such incidents, many experienced competitors are using modified guns for competition which may have limited or eliminated those safeties.

Be alert and careful folks.

Congratulations to the new Basic Pistol Instructors and RSOs. Five individuals recently completed the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course and Range Safety Officer Course. We look forward to introducing you to them at the Concealed Carry Handgun Classes and Women on Target Clinics.

Also, we recently certified four new experienced instructors as NRA Instructors for Personal Protection Outside the Home.

NRA BASIC PISTOL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Candidates must complete the NRA Basic Pistol Course (class portion may be conducted online by registration with the NRA. The shooting portion will be conducted at the Practical Pistol Range.

The instructor course is two days and will be held on Sunday October 11 and Sunday October 18, 2020.

Holster Selection

We like to share things that work. For concealed carry, we highly recommend Dale Fricke Holsters. We have several of his appendix carry holsters. Great service. We had one of the straps fail due to a hardware attachment issue (the holster is 7 years old). Emailed Dale and within two hours had a reply and he is sending the necessary replacement hardware today.
