North Carolina, You Turned the State Green!

“Our goal was simple but powerful: turn North Carolina green by securing at least one gift from every single one of the 100 counties to show united support for our young people,” said Shannon McCollum, interim state 4-H program leader. “During National 4-H Week, it has been wonderful to see counties, youth, volunteers and staff celebrating what makes 4-H so special.”

Every county. Every young person. Every gift counted.
All funds raised support the 4-H Priorities Fund, which provides flexibility to address the needs of young people and the programs that serve them. The fund helps reduce barriers to participation and supports educational programs, scholarships, camp experiences, hands-on learning and youth leadership development.

North Carolina 4-H thanks everyone who contributed or helped spread the word, making the campaign's first year a statewide success. Although the campaign has concluded, the generosity of supporters will continue creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead and grow.

These large Joro spiders (top left photo) are relatively new to NC, but pose no threat to humans. The NC Work From Anywhere program is a recognized certification that an individual has the knowledge and skills to work remotely.

One of the benefits of participating is becoming part of a community of practice that extends way beyond the borders of Cherokee County North Carolina. Some events are free and open to the public.
