Hi, everyone! Welcome to "The Mommy Diner!" I started this page because I have five kids and never know how a restaurant environment will suit my family. I decided that I am surely not the only mother who dreads going to new places because I am concerned about environment!
I will be rating cafés, restaurants, fast food, and coffee shops with 1-5 stars. They will also receive a final score which will be an average of the different scores that I used to rate them.
The rating categories are as follows:
Safety:
This is how safe the restaurant, play area, bathrooms, and parking lots are. For example, if they have a PlayPlace, I would rate higher for a play area with a door and adult seating than I would for one where my toddler can easily escape.
Convenience:
This is how difficult it was to visit this restaurant. If the parking lot is hard to get into, there is a long line at the door, or there is no high chair available, they will lose points on this rating.
Enjoyment:
This rating is for how fun it was for mother and kids. Play places and fun food will boost this rating, while almost any rating below 3 stars will lower it.
Ambiance:
This is the rating for how suited to kids the environment is. An environment where people conduct business is more difficult to bring children. An environment where they have TVs blasting foul language or advertise beer on every square inch would get a lower rating. Or, this rating could be boosted by having separate rooms for families to be seated, or by having a breastfeeding friendly environment.
Value:
Obviously, this will be for the price, but it will be metered by value. If they cook food that tastes like fast food but they charge like a date-night, then they will lose some value. If they cook food that tastes fine for the cost, but they take thirty minutes to get your food to you, I will be giving a lower rating for that.
I hope this helps other Mommies to be able to determine what restaurant they want to visit!
