Come join us for Community Carving Night at Olive's Porch, Friday, August 21, 4-6 pm!

What is Community Carving Night? This is a great way to explore your interest in carving small wooden animal figures in the Brasstown Carver's style with guidance by Carolyn Anderson and Richard Carter of the Brasstown Carvers.

FREE to all. Knives, wood blocks, and safety gloves are provided.
For ages 13 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

No need to pre-register, just come on over!

Scenes from two recent sewing workshops at Olive's Porch!
Instructor Jan Jolly taught an Intro to Sewing workshop where students learned the basics of machine sewing and the following day taught a sewing skill-building Crisscross Apron workshop. Thank you Jan and students!

Hi Friends! Olive's Porch will be closed today, Sunday August 16.
Our air conditioning unit broke yesterday making our indoor temperature pretty uncomfortable!

We plan to be back open for our regular hours on Wednesday.

Saturday we had a super fun workshop, Botanical Pysanky with Andrea Kulish Wilhelm!

Pysanky, also known as Ukrainian eggs, have free flowing and geometric flower and plant designs and are created by using the batik method – also called wax-resist – dyeing.

Thank you Andrea for sharing your love of traditional Ukrainian Folk Art, its history and symbolism!

Scenes from a recent Olive's Porch workshop, Sunprints and Stamped Surface design with Catherine Bratton.

Join us for this beginner-friendly workshop to turn non-native, invasive plants into functional art. We'll make beautiful, unique baskets using Kudzu, Wisteria, and other fast growing, fibrous plants.

'Quilted Leaf Impressions' with Sue Brown: Students learned to preserve favorite leaves by printing and quilting their impressions on fabric.

'Woodburning: Decorative Gourd Birdhouse' with Jan Carney:
Students learned basic pyrography skills such as temperature control, shading, image transferring, and how to texture on birdhouse gourds.
