Join us Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 11am-1pm, for the annual Department of Art and Design fall picnic. It’s game day on campus so there will be a party in Walnut Grove and plenty of excitement outside. Inside Todd Hall, you can visit the Faculty Biennial exhibit. Bring your classmates, family and friends and let’s celebrate fall together.

The picnic will be held outside Todd Hall on the patio facing Peck Hall, but will be moved inside if the weather isn’t cooperating.

We look forward to seeing with you!

Been a blast this week hosting alum .cannon and .paluczak !!! They gave great talks, instigated a fun and generative collab project with our class, and started their own projects.

As a reminder, to any alum/print friends, join us tomorrow for a casual Print Blitz. For the uninitiated, a blitz is a group printing session where we we together, make prints and trade. Riso printing, screenprint stuff and printing paper is supplied.

There will be DoCo 🍩…

been thinkin about my old wreck this journal from middle/high school which apparently didn’t make the move to college 🤦🏼‍♀️ i’ve been doing a lot of thinking about prompts, rule-making, and process in my art, which brings me to think about this old “sketchbook” of mine from growing up. each page had a prompt and the resulting stains, tears, or accidental imagery brought me so much joy, but not as much as the act of creating them did. i’ll use spring break to stop planning and start doing, to make some messes and clean them up! i’ve been busy prepping screens and reworking my previous prints, but it’s time to let loose and just make some stuff.

~ I cannot claim that I fully understand this quote😅, but it is fun to think about it as I’m working on my current project. As I’ve found much joy in writing lately, I would like to create one little zine each day of Spring Break, then turn these into paper stripes and weave them all together into one final piece. [work-in-progress].
