Little Log Cottage School The Little-Log Cottage School exists to educate children in an individual customized setting.

Lessons are taught through hands on, thematic units which inspire children to use their creativity and become self-motivated, life-long learners Credentials:

Bachelor of Science in Education 1999,
taught 8 years in the Rutherford County School System (1st and 4th grade)
privately tutored students from first to eighth grade,
Written and directed elementary musical theatre production
Currently homeschooling preschool and kindergarten.

It has been a FULL September! Practical Magic Girl’s Night, fall coffee tastings, big birthday celebrations, cross country meets, tutorial social events; every single weekend has been full. It’s wearing on me now, trying to keep up with everything. I’m grateful for all of these moments but I’m praying for a cooler, more relaxing October surrounded by the same people. 🍁🍂

I’m trying so hard to stay present and savor this year with my kids. Change is hard, even if it’s good change. My heart is always so happy to see my kids enjoy being around each other so I made sure to snap a pic of these two at tutorial since it’s Madi’s senior year. To the mommas who are going through big change know that you aren’t alone. Feel your grief but also make sure you are being present with your kids while you have them near. God loves them more than you and knowing that makes going through this so much easier. ❤️

I’m recovering from last week! When your best friend who lives in the UK comes back home for a visit, you take a couple days off from school to eat a bunch of fried Southern food and shop!
I’m grateful she was here to help us shower Evelyn and Clark with gifts and blessings over their upcoming marriage. This is a busy and full season that I am in. ❤️

It’s hard to believe that summer break is coming to an end. This month has been full of theater, school prep, and running. Since we’ll have a busy fall, I went ahead and began our history curriculum so we have plenty of days built in to skip a lesson when we are busy with wedding plans, family visits, and moving house. That’s the beauty of homeschooling!

One of the best things about not teaching during the summer months is the ability to slow down in the mornings. Instead of rushing back from a morning workout to get kids started on school work or to get to our tutorial, I can go for morning walks and/or spend time on the porch. July will be gone in a blink of an eye, so my prayer this month is to be present and to be grateful for the time I have to unwind from the school year.

It’s Sunday which means it’s time to plan! I have finally found the planner that checks all of the boxes: homemaking, homeschooling, and my new favorite: prayer! This planner is what keeps my week organized and helps me keep an intentional time for prayer. It’s been sold out once, so now it’s in the presale stage until July 15th. It should be ready to ship in December. If you are a Christian Homeschool Mom who loves to plan, I can’t recommend this planner enough!

Only a few days left of June and I’m not ready to think about school prep!
Still going strong on our log house, finishing up camps, and spending quiet afternoons on the porch. Soon the 4th of July will be here which means I will need to start pressing hard into lesson planning. Slow down, Summer!

This past weekend I had the honor of hosting an engagement tea for my daughter, Evelyn. We invited her bridesmaids, mother of the groom, friends who would be hosting showers, and the friend who matched her and her fiancé together. It was a sweet time and a wonderful way to celebrate all that God has done!

This is my view most mornings. This little girl has worked hard the past several years getting a cut flower garden going and growing vegetables for us all summer. I love the idea of gardening, but it’s never something I have enjoyed doing. I’m glad she’s taken an interest and finds joy in making things grow. She’ll make an excellent homesteader one day!
