🎓 Celebrating Our 2026 Distinguished Alumni!

Chowan University is proud to recognize Ross Newcombe ’80 as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree!

A graduate of Chowan College, Ross has built an accomplished career spanning more than four decades in military service, healthcare administration, and executive leadership.

After earning his Associate of Science degree with honors from Chowan, Ross continued his education before beginning a distinguished career as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. Throughout his military service, he held numerous leadership positions and received several honors, including the Legion of Merit and the Order of Military Medical Merit.

Following his military career, Ross continued his commitment to serving others through leadership roles in healthcare, including serving as Chief Operating Officer of Providence Alaska Medical Center and Chief Executive Officer of North Star Behavioral Health.

Throughout his career, Ross has demonstrated a dedication to leadership, integrity, and service, reflecting the values instilled during his time at Chowan.

Ross will be formally recognized alongside his fellow Distinguished Alumni honorees this Friday, October 16, during Chowan's Homecoming celebrations.

Chowan University is proud to recognize Renee R. Felts as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree!

A graduate of Chowan University, Renee has dedicated nearly four decades to higher education, student success, workforce development, and lifelong learning.

Her connection to Chowan goes beyond her time as a student. Renee also served as an instructor in Chowan's School of Business, where she taught and mentored students before continuing her career at Paul D. Camp Community College and Old Dominion University.

Throughout her career, Renee has held numerous leadership positions, including Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Workforce Development and Associate Vice President for Continuing Education. She has also earned a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, reflecting her own commitment to lifelong learning.

Renee's dedication to education and helping others succeed has made a lasting impact on countless students and communities.

Renee will be formally recognized alongside her fellow Distinguished Alumni honorees this Friday, October 16, during Chowan's Homecoming celebrations.

🎓 Celebrating Our 2026 Distinguished Alumni!

Chowan University is proud to recognize MSG Santina "Taz" Brown (Ret.) ’12 as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree!

A graduate of Chowan University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Accounting, Santina has built an accomplished career rooted in leadership, service, and entrepreneurship.

A retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant with more than 20 years of experience, Santina has served in military and federal financial management roles. She is also the Founder and CEO of The End Goal LLC, a business consulting firm, and continues to pursue her Doctor of Business Administration in Organizational Management.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Santina remains dedicated to giving back to her community through athletics, entrepreneurship, and leadership, including her role as Director of the 8W United Flag Football League.

Santina will be formally recognized alongside her fellow Distinguished Alumni honorees this Friday, October 16, during Chowan's Homecoming celebrations.

Chowan University is proud to recognize LaTisha Flood Anderson ’15 as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree!

A graduate of Chowan University with a degree in Social Science and Religious Studies, LaTisha has continued to make an impact through her dedication to leadership, education, faith, and service.

Currently serving as a Transportation Area Manager II at Amazon, LaTisha has worked her way up through the organization while helping others grow in their own careers. She has also earned three master’s degrees from Virginia Union University.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, LaTisha serves as a pastor, mentor, and community leader, dedicating her time to supporting families, empowering young adults, and serving those in need.

LaTisha will be formally recognized alongside her fellow Distinguished Alumni honorees this Friday, October 16, during Chowan’s Homecoming celebrations.

Leadership, connection, and celebrating women who make a difference!

Chowan University President Dr. Rosemary M. Thomas, a nominee for the 2026 Christian Woman of Distinction Award, recently joined women leaders from across North and South Carolina at the She Leads Carolinas Women of Distinction Banquet.

The evening provided an opportunity to celebrate women's achievements, build meaningful connections, and recognize the impact of women who continue to lead and inspire in their communities.

Among those highlighted were Ceci Sheets, Lisa Clark, Jane Herlong, and Tara Sessoms.

Chowan University is proud to be part of conversations and connections that celebrate leadership and positive change across our region.
