WMOT is MTSU’s 100,000-watt public radio station. Founded in 1969, the station serves the Middle Tennessee and metro Nashville areas with classical, jazz, and Americana music, plus news, talk, and MTSU sports programming. Sidelines is MTSU’s editorially independent, student-run newspaper. Founded in 1925, the paper is available in print weekly during the academic year. As part of MTSU’s Recording Industry program, Match Records strives to involve students in all aspects of a traditional record label: talent acquisition and development, production, marketing and distribution. In turn, students gain real-world experience and opportunities for networking. MT10 is MTSU’s student-run television station. The station gives students opportunities to work on camera, behind the scenes, and in managerial positions doing both daily news and original programming shot in a state-of-the-art green screen robotic studio. Experiences at MT10 have led alumni to careers as Emmy-winning news reporters, editors, producers, production personnel and entrepreneurs. WMTS is MTSU’s 680-watt student-run radio station. On the air since 1992, WMTS began as alternative music and news outlet, WNAR (We Need a Radio). The station continues that mission today: Student-paid and operated, WMTS gives a voice to students and offers hands-on broadcasting experience.
