❤️ A simple cheek swab could help save a life.

Join MTSU HealthBridge and Gift of Life Registry for a campuswide cheek swab drive Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.!

Gift of Life connects volunteer stem cell and bone marrow donors with patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell disease, and inherited immune disorders who need a lifesaving match.

📍 Find a drive location:
• In front of the Honors Building
• In front of the Science Building
• Between Davis and Todd halls

A quick cheek swab could help you become a potential match for someone in need. If you're matched with a patient, you can choose whether to donate. Gift of Life covers travel, lodging, and meal expenses if you travel to its Florida facility to donate, or you can donate locally.

One small act could make a life-changing difference. Stop by, get swabbed, and help connect more patients with potential donors!

Honors College students spent Saturday, Oct. 10, exploring Tennessee history firsthand during a field trip to Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park with MTSU's American Democracy Project.

The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the people, places, and events that shaped early Tennessee and the United States while experiencing history in the location where it happened. Programs like these help connect classroom learning with meaningful civic and historical engagement.

Take a look at a few photos from the trip! ⬇️

When Lucas Daggs began at Nashville State Community College, he wasn’t sure he could even graduate.

Today, he’s a Buchanan Transfer Fellow at MTSU, pursuing a degree in commercial construction management while working as a labor foreman.

Lucas’ path to MTSU began as a pipelayer installing underground utilities. A conversation with a general contractor helped him see a future in construction management, and his experience in the field continues to shape his goals.

The Buchanan Transfer Fellowship has helped make that future possible, giving Lucas financial support while connecting him with Honors coursework, research opportunities and a path toward graduate school.

His advice to community college students considering a transfer is simple: “Take the shot.”

Read Lucas’ story and learn how the Buchanan Transfer Fellowship is helping him build his future. | MTSU College of Basic & Applied Sciences

🎧 NEW PODCAST EPISODE: Honors Spotlight

For many students, graduate school feels overwhelming, especially without family experience to guide the way.

MTSU Honors student Trinity Johnson is working to change that through “The Next Chapter,” a student organization dedicated to helping students navigate graduate education and build a supportive academic community.

In this episode, Trinity discusses:
• Being a first-generation college student
• Starting a student organization from the ground up
• Creating opportunities for students interested in graduate school
• Building community at MTSU

Her story is a reminder that leadership often begins with identifying a need and taking action.
