The MTSU Center for Historic Preservation, established in 1984, carries out preservation, history, and education projects across Tennessee, the South, and the Nation. Students who have worked at the Center and/or graduated from the MTSU preservation program, and our many friends across the nation, are encouraged and welcomed to join this group and find out what we are all about. Our Summer 2026 Common Bond newsletter features Deja Gooch in our Formers' Corner, a Q&A with new director Dr. Tiffany Momon, the new Tennessee Century Farms book by former director Dr. Carroll Van West, and our 250th activities at the Heritage Center.

There is still time to apply! The Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area is currently accepting applications for our fall grant cycle through August 31. Non-profits and local governments are eligible to apply for matching grants for Civil War and Reconstruction-era programs and projects including tourism brochures, exhibits, kiosks, educational materials and events, documentaries and related media, and archeological surveys.
