Great to see Frater Reza Baktar #111, Class of 1995, and member of the MTSU Wall of Fame, donating a CNN news desk to his alma mater. A great example of a Frater making his mark and giving back!

What if the desk you sit behind to learn broadcast journalism has already been used on a major television network?

Thanks to a generous donation from CNN, Middle Tennessee News students in MTSU School of Journalism and Strategic Media are now learning and reporting from news set equipment with some serious broadcast history.

The donation includes two anchor desks, six anchor stools and other set materials. One desk was previously used on HLN, another in CNN’s Studio 58 newsroom, and the stools were used during the 2015 Simi Valley presidential debate.

Now, these pieces of broadcast history are helping prepare MTSU students for their own careers in journalism.

It is a pretty great reminder that what students learn in the classroom can connect directly to the work happening in newsrooms and studios around the country.
