This is so cool! Compose a few notes and the AI-powered Bach Google Doodle will harmonize. Harmonies are based on patterns from all of Bach’s compositions. The program was a little wonky to use on my iPad but I just clicked the play button on the Google Doodle a few times and it finally opened. Playing the exact notes I wanted was also challenging, but still a very fun tool!! Here is my composition...

Hey friends, did you get a chance to watch the Brandenburg Concerto 2?

Here are our Challenge answers:

The performers are wearing fancy clothing! Mostly black in color - that is our traditional classical music attire.

The small group of solo instruments are the violin, trumpet, recorder, and oboe.

The larger group are the violins, violas, cellos, double bass, and harpsichord.

Who are the musicians following? The gentleman violinist right out in front. Whenever there is no conductor, the “first” violinist is in charge of leading the orchestra.

Finally, my favorite instrument is, of course, the harpsichord! I have always secretly wanted to play a harpsichord, even though I never have! Maybe someday I will fulfill my dream! And the coolest thing I noticed about this piece was the steady, churning rhythm, but also the beautiful melody lines and dynamics.

What do you notice about the PERFORMANCE? Are the musicians serious or playful? Are they wearing fancy clothes or t-shirts and shorts? How MANY total musicians do you see???

Can you identify the 2 main groups of instruments that make up the CONCERTO GROSSO? What instruments are in the small group of solo performers out in front? What instruments are in the larger, background group?

How do the musicians know how to stay together and follow their cues when there is no conductor? Did you notice which musician is in charge of leading the group? - Hint: he is one of the performers out in front!

Finally, what is your favorite instrument here, or what is one of your favorite things you noticed in the piece?
