This session will provide a helpful guide to students who are not sure how to study for final exams. Students will prepare a "battle plan" for the last few weeks of the semester.

On Wednesday, Nov. 28, students in PSY 4600 have partnered with Nashville CARES to provide free HIV testing in the KUC. Testing utilizes the OraQuick HIV Advance device, which is a simple mouth swab. No blood or needles required! Interested individuals should check in at tables located on the second floor of the KUC, outside of the Grille, between 10:00am and 5:00pm.

Thursday, Nov. 29, is the second event in the popular Fit’N MT program series! From 5:00pm-7:00pm, students can come to the 2nd floor Meeting Room in the Rec Center and take part in relaxation and stress management activities, including creating their own “Finals Survival Kit,” guided meditation sessions, or learning about the best food choices for study snacks. As an added bonus, volunteers from the Georgia Career Institute are scheduled to provide FREE MASSAGES!!! The first 50 students to participate will also receive a $20 gift card to Nuture Nook Day Spa in Murfreesboro.

We have a very special guest speaker coming from Washington, D.C., Friday (Nov. 16) at 8-10am to address the topic of workplace violence. Please join us for a morning of captivating insights from a uniquely qualified expert:

Speaker Bio: Samuel Blackstone, a crisis management executive and graduate of the FBI National Academy, spent over twenty years as a special agent with the United States government as a foreign intelligence officer and criminal investigator involved in counterintelligence, counter-terrorism, and criminal investigative activities. He directed and supervised dignitary protection operations globally for two Secretaries of Defense, senior presidential cabinet officials and foreign dignitaries of cabinet ranking, with dignitary protection responsibilities that included handling personnel extrications around the world. In the private sector, Mr. Blackstone has managed corporate crisis and risk programs, personnel crisis management programs, and workplace violence issues. He provides security and risk management analyses to fortune 500 corporations, major legal firms, high level law enforcement agencies, the U.S. intelligence community, and numerous federal and state government enforcement agencies. He is recognized as a subject matter expert to the Department of Homeland Security concerning matters of risk management.

This event is hosted by our MTSU chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and we welcome people from any professional background with an interest in the topic of workplace violence to join us.

Where? The event will be located off campus at the MTSU Foundation House (324 West Thompson Lane). That is across the street from Siegel Middle School (parking area shared with MTSU’s Miller Coliseum).

Cost? MTSU students and faculty reduced rate of $5, which gains you entry to the event and includes a continental breakfast. The non-MTSU rate is $15.

Advanced registration is not necessary. Please plan to arrive 7:45-8:00am, enjoy breakfast and friendship for the first 10-20 minutes, then take in a dynamic session with Samuel Blackstone until 9:45am. After a brief closing, you’ll be out by 10am.

In June, 2012, several MTSU students traveled to the area around Fukushima, Japan, to help clean up debris from the 2001 earthquake and tsumami that devastated the area. Dr. Doug Heffington, director of the MTSU Global Studies Program, will join those students in a discussion of their once-in-a-lifetime experience from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Room 106 of the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors Building. This International Education Week event is free and open to the public.
