Three pieces of software, three problems I had first.

Scorae, because I was grading at midnight and my feedback was getting worse the longer I went.

ClassSense, because turning a unit into practice takes longer than teaching it.

Clareza, because homeschool families kept asking for the whole curriculum and I only had pieces.

Nothing here started as a business plan. All of it started as a Tuesday that went badly.

Most teaching resources are written by people who left the classroom, and it shows in the small stuff.

The lesson plans assume a class that behaves. The PD assumes a prep period that exists. The timing assumes nobody comes in crying about lunch.

I'm still teaching college biology and anatomy this semester, which mostly means I'm still getting things wrong in front of people and fixing them.

Every course here opens its first lesson free. No signup, no email, no countdown timer trying to panic you into a decision.

I'd rather you read one and decide it isn't for you than buy one and quietly resent me.

Ten minutes of actual reading tells you more than any sales page I could write about it.

Nobody warns you that the hardest part of a unit is the first ten minutes, staring at a blank document, deciding what Monday is even about.

The teaching part you can do. You've done it a thousand times. It's the starting that gets you.

That's the entire reason the resource library exists. Not to teach for you. To make the page not blank.

ELA, Math and Science, mapped to state and national standards, and yes I know that sentence has never once made anybody feel anything.

Here's the version that matters: the science goes deepest, because biology, physics and earth science are what I actually teach, and I can tell when a unit is written by somebody who has never had to explain the carbon cycle to a room after lunch.

Everything on this page started as something that wasn't working in my own classroom.

Students who wouldn't ask questions. A lesson that fell apart the second the schedule shifted. An assessment I wrote at 11pm that measured recall and let me pretend it measured thinking.

None of it started as an idea. All of it started as a problem I was embarrassed about.

Every resource here is editable, and that isn't a feature list item, it's an apology in advance.

I don't know your kids. I don't know that your third period cannot be trusted with scissors, or that your district wants the standard printed in the corner.

You'll change it. Everyone changes it. Better that you can.

The scientific method poster on the wall is not how science works, and by about fourth grade the students already know it.

Real science is messier. You evaluate evidence, you change your mind, and quite a lot of the time you are productively wrong for a while.

Teaching that is harder than teaching the poster. It's also the only version worth their time.
