Steel Valley Elementary is officially open!
We are elated to have had so many students, families, current and former faculty, staff, and administrators join us alongside the community for our formal ribbon cutting ceremony.
We are especially honored to have had Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis serve as our keynote speaker and to help us dedicate this brand new school. We are grateful for the attendance of State Senator Nick Pisciottano and State Representative Dan Goughnour, as well as Mayor Mary Nesby of Homestead, Mayor Joe Baran of West Homestead, Mayor Rob Falce of Munhall, and members of all three borough councils.
Thank you to president Ms. Robyn Guy, vice president Mr. Dan Rojtas, and board members Susan Ballas, Jim Bulger, Dave Colasante, Stephanie Hughes, Cara Karstetter, Mary Yuhas, and Eugene Zortea for your leadership. Thank you to Acting Superintendent Dr. Brian Plichta and the administrative team for their work in shepherding this project to the finish line - Mr. Anthony Piscioneri, Ms. Melissa Cheslock, Mr. Mike Sullivan, Mr. Olando Dulin, Mr. Larry George, Ms. Lisa Runco, and Mr. Kolin Price.
Thank you to Steel Valley Elementary principal Mrs. Kim Winters and assistant principal Mr. Austin Riley, along with the entire elementary faculty and staff for their preparations for this event and for the school year. Thank you to our custodial and maintenance staff, as well as our security team, for helping to ensure this event went off so well.
Thank you to Mr. Christropher Petricca and the Steel Valley Marching Band for helping welcome everyone to the event and for the performance of the national anthem and alma mater.
Thank you to our architects at DRAW Collective, Rycon Construction for serving as the general contractor, Eckles Construction Services for their guidance, and the entire construction team for their work on this facility.
Special thanks to Ms. Lauren Zagorac, administration executive assistant, for her extensive work in planning the ribbon cutting ceremony and the community open house alongside a team of volunteers.
There is much more to come from this wonderful day. And don't forget to join us on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for our Community Open House!
