๐Ÿท๐Ÿ† SHOW SEASON IS UNDERWAY! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿท

We kicked off our 2026 pig show season this week at the Tennessee State Fair with 7 exhibitors and 12 pigs!

It was HOT โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅต, which meant the biggest priority was taking care of our livestock. Our exhibitors worked together to keep pigs cool, comfortable and safe while still getting everyone fed, washed, prepped and ready for the show ring. We couldnโ€™t be prouder of the teamwork we saw! Of course, we had plenty to celebrate in the ring, too! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿท Several Top 5 class placings
๐Ÿฅ‡ Hayden Pike won her Crossbred Barrow class and returned for the Grand Drive!
๐Ÿ“ All 7 exhibitors competed in the Swine Skillathon
๐Ÿ† Hayden Pike- 1st OVERALL in Skillathon!
๐Ÿ‘ Nathan Greuling- 9th OVERALL in Skillathon!

Our season is off to a great start! Livestock projects are about so much more than what happens in the show ring. Theyโ€™re about responsibility, animal care, hard work, knowledge, sportsmanship and learning to be the person who jumps in when a teammate needs help.
And judging by that last pictureโ€ฆ apparently theyโ€™re also about making sure your pig is appropriately dressed for the occasion. ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿท

Weโ€™re proud of this crew and canโ€™t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

It may have only been the third day of class, but our Munford High School Floral Design students were already putting their new skills to work for a pretty special project!

Students created 50 fresh floral arrangements for the Tennessee FFA Ham Breakfast, held this morning at the Tennessee State Fair. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

And these weren't simply flowers placed in a vase! Over the past few days, students have begun learning and applying several fundamental floral design skills, including:

๐ŸŒฟ Gridding vases to provide structure and support
โœ‚๏ธ Properly cutting and preparing greenery
๐ŸŒธ Processing and preparing fresh-cut flowers
๐Ÿ’ Identifying and utilizing line, mass, form, and filler flowers within a design
๐Ÿšš Proper storage, handling, and transportation techniques to protect finished arrangements

One of the things we love most about Agricultural Education is giving students the opportunity to learn by doing. Instead of practicing these skills simply for a grade, our students were able to create arrangements that were actually used for a major Tennessee FFA event.

Seven Munford FFA Chapter Officers spent the past two days helping with one of the Tennessee FFA Foundationโ€™s signature eventโ€”the TN FFA Ham Breakfast, held during the Tennessee State Fair at the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon!

Our officers traveled to Lebanon Sunday evening and went straight to work helping set up and decorate for the breakfast. Bright and early this morning, they were back at it, serving as greeters for more than 1,200 attendees before staying after the event to help with take-down. Representing Munford FFA were: Nathan Greuling, Lachlan Durden, Sophia Zuniga-Chinchilla, Gracie Erwin, Kaitlyn Mackling, Addy Tuinstra, and Lexie Whitehead.

Throughout the event, our members had the opportunity to work alongside the Tennessee FFA State Officers, Regional Officers, Crockett County FFA, Hendersonville FFA and Lebanon FFA members to help make this huge event possible.

The Champion Ham sold for an incredible $47,000, while the Reserve Champion Ham brought $42,000, helping make this the largest fundraising event in the 11-year history of the TN FFA Ham Breakfast!

Events like this give our members a chance to see another side of FFA leadership. They weren't there simply to attend the breakfastโ€”they were there to work, serve and help host an event that brings together more than 1,200 supporters of FFA and agriculture from across Tennessee.

๐ŸŒบ Aloha from the 2026-2027 Munford FFA Officer Team! ๐ŸŒบ

Last week, 20 of our chapter officers traveled to the beautiful Ames Plantation for our annual Officer Retreat. While there were plenty of laughs, memories, and team-building activities, this retreat was about much more than having fun.
Together, our officers laid the foundation for the year ahead by developing our 2026-2027 Program of Activities, organizing chapter committees, setting goals, planning events, and challenging one another to grow as leaders.

Throughout the week, students participated in leadership workshops, personal growth activities, team challenges, and meaningful conversations focused on what it truly means to serve others. They learned that leadership isnโ€™t about wearing the jacket or holding a title. Itโ€™s about building relationships, creating opportunities for others, and leaving the chapter better than they found it.
Our โ€œAlohaโ€ theme reminded us that leadership is about creating a welcoming culture where every member feels they belong. As we return home, weโ€™re excited to put these ideas into action and make this one of the best years yet for Munford FFA.

The planning is complete.
The goals are set.
Now itโ€™s time to make it happen! ๐ŸŒบ

We are proud of Brock Hill, former MHS FFA President, for earning this honor this past spring.

This summer, he was awarded the opportunity to participate in the TN FFA State Star Tour. Not only did he get to share his story and experiences with many agricultural leaders, but he also traveled across Tennessee learning skills and practices that fuel the number one industry in our state.

Congratulations Brock!

๐ŸŒพ Celebrating Tennesseeโ€™s Top Crop! ๐ŸŒพ

We are proud to have had several members recognized during the West Tennessee Top Crop Dinner and Awards Recognition in Humboldt last night.

Hosted by Tennessee Farm Bureau, the Top Crop program celebrates outstanding 4-H and FFA members whose accomplishments represent excellence in agricultural production, leadership, and Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Honorees included state-winning proficiency recipients, State Stars, American FFA Degree candidates, and other top agricultural youth from across Tennessee.

Although not all recipients were able to attend, we are proud that 4 of our current and former students were able to enjoy an evening of recognition alongside fellow agricultural leaders and heard remarks from Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Holt. Congratulations Nathan, Kaitlyn, Emma & Sarah!
We are incredibly proud of these members for the time, responsibility, and dedication they have invested in their agricultural experiences. Thank you to Tennessee Farm Bureau and everyone who helped make this meaningful recognition possible!

Congratulations to our Munford FFA honorees. You truly represent the top crop of Tennessee agriculture!
