The ACT Lab has moved and now is the Student Disability Accessibility Lab. The SDAL provides disability-related technology support to students on campus including audio textbooks, softwares, an adjustable height table, a video magnifier, and table space.

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Brittany Bales!

August’s Featured Flyer highlights Brittany Bales, Assistant Department Chair and Associate Teaching Professor in Special Education. Brittany has the joy of teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate classes for future special educators. Additionally, she oversees some of the practicum experiences, where she witnesses students putting their knowledge and skills into practice in local classrooms.

-Why did you choose to work at Ball State?
I grew up in Muncie, but had not stepped foot on campus until I was an undergraduate student. It was like a whole new world to me. As a first-generation college student, I was in awe of the possibilities and opportunities that college offered. I completed all my undergraduate and graduate coursework at Ball State, and when I decided to leave the public-school classroom to make a greater impact on education, Ball State wasn’t just the obvious choice for me; it was the dream. I began my journey at Ball State as an adjunct in 2016 and have now completed my 8th year as full-time faculty.

-What’s your favorite part of working here?
The people. I love the people that I work with, and the faculty and staff across campus.

-What do you love about working at Ball State?
I’ve had the privilege of teaching and training hundreds of future educators. I love getting to play a role in their journey to their own classrooms.

Camp Achieve went Jurassic this summer!

With dinosaur-themed activities, swimming, archery, art, field trips and even a foam party, Camp Achieve 2026 was packed with adventure.

But beneath all the fun, 34 autistic campers were building skills, confidence and friendships in a supportive community designed to help them thrive.
