🎨 Ball State alumna Emma Grace Hapner (BFA Painting, 2020) returns to Indiana with Reliquaries, a solo exhibition at Atelier in Warsaw, IN.

Featuring Hapner’s signature palette of pinks, the exhibition explores contemporary womanhood through reimagined classical imagery and “unapologetic femininity.”

Reliquaries opens Sept. 17 with a reception from 6–8 p.m. and runs through Oct. 30.

We love seeing our alumni bring their work back home to Indiana. 🩷

Celebrate the work of our first-year artists! 🎨

Director of the School of Art Lara Kuykendall shares more about Beginnings 2026: The First-Year Foundations Student Show and the work created by students across studio art, animation, graphic design, and art education.

Join us during Family Weekend for the reception and awards ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, from 4–6 p.m. Awards will be presented in 2D, 3D, 4D, and Drawing, along with a Best in Show Award sponsored by Art Mart in the Village.

✨ Alumni Spotlight ✨ We’re incredibly proud to share that Graphic Design alumna Jessica Hord has joined Figma as a Product Designer! In her new role, Jessica will be designing experiences that help enterprise and government customers confidently adopt Figma as a platform, including its AI capabilities. Before joining Figma, Jessica served as a Design Lead at Meta and as a Product Designer II at Microsoft. Jessica earned her BFA in Visual Communication from Ball State University in 2018. ✨

Alumni Spotlight: Artist and School of Art alumna Julie Xiao is bringing imaginative new worlds to life across Indianapolis. ✨

Working in ink, acrylic, and large-scale mixed-media scrolls, Julie creates colorful, narrative-driven work inspired by nature, animation, and the fantastical. Her work can be found throughout the city—including at the Indianapolis International Airport—and she’ll be among the artists exhibiting at the 59th annual Penrod Arts Fair at Newfields on September 12.

Julie studied animation at Ball State before earning her master’s degree from Herron School of Art and Design, and we love seeing the creative path she continues to build!
