Oh, my adults who are self proclaimed “yellers” who “rule with an iron fist,” please know that nobody in your space, including you, is regulated. Some kids will respond with fight/flight (read big behaviors) and others will comply but in nervous system states of fawn or freeze. Please get regulated so you can co-regulate your kids/students.

Believe it or not, every adult and child in these photos is working on increasing reading ability. What I’m discovering by striving for a breadth of knowledge in a lot of areas and a depth of knowledge in only a few is that it is in the INTERSECTION of many modalities with experts in each that we see the most progress for kids.

We need prescriptive, explicit programs like Orton-Gillingham for reading instruction to increase literacy skills. We also need physical therapists and occupational therapists working with kids to integrate retained reflexes and work with vestibular motion to achieve those increased literacy skills!

We need nervous system awareness and explicitly taught regulatory strategies for kids with executive function difficulty. We need physical therapists and occupational therapists to support sensory integration and retained reflex integration to reach the goal of increased executive function.

We have to get to the roots!!!!

Summer camp has been so fun! We use nature and STEAM learning to work on sensory integration, bilateral coordination, sensory imagery, reflex integration, regulation, and confidence building!

There is rarely any programming designed with neurodivergent kids in mind, but we have it!
We have 2 spots available for our older group (think grades 3-5) and 2 spots for our younger group (think k-2).
I’m happy to talk through needs and options!
I’m thrilled with the options we have come up with. 💜
