After spending a few restful days at home, some of us are reminiscing about our favorite parts of the trip. Kate Hill had this to say about the street markets of Nice, France, where our group took part in a late-morning food tour, experiencing the full flavor of the city:
The street markets of Nice feed those from all walks of life through a colorful array of the finest produce unique to the city. While the markets teach all who pass through about the commonality of food, local farmers strive to create lasting relationships with returning customers for generations.
Passing through the market, all one’s grocery needs can be met: a succulent piece of meat for dinner can be purchased adjacent to a sweet chocolate croissant either for a single-serve dessert or a sentimental breakfast the next morning.
The nearby apartments do not have ovens because—in case of a fire—the city’s aged cobblestone streets are far too narrow for any fire truck to come through and adequately put one out This architectural flaw that borders on dangerous has consequently guaranteed the freshness of Nice’s street market produce for centuries—as most depend on the market to produce a filling meal.
In the cool rebirth of mid-May, the market’s fruit is at its peak quality. Rose-colored are the cheeks of those enjoying the succulent nectar from a pint of plump, crimson-red cherries to satisfy the pangs of hunger.
Come to the Nice street markets as a customer; leave a friend.

Hey everyone! It’s .bracken !Throughout Florence and Siena, Taylor and I began to notice the smaller details of the cities - the door knockers. From ornate to plain, both cities older door were equipped with door knockers. As a whole, we’ve started noticing the beautiful details in these older cities and we have grown to appreciate it immensely. While we were passing a tour, the guide told the group that the statues and frescoes and art pieces around the city are not decoration. That they all serve a purpose. That statement struck me and has changed my perspective on the cities that we have seen and that we are still yet to see. It makes me remember the rich histories and trial and tribulations that these places have been through instead of them just being a tourist destination.
