We're proud to share some exciting news!

Ball State University Teachers College has received the 2026 ISTE+ASCD Distinguished Educator Preparation Program Award, presented during ISTELive 26 and ASCD Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.

This national award recognizes educator preparation programs that are transforming teacher preparation through innovative uses of technology and preparing future-ready educators.

Representing Teachers College at the conference, Jon Clausen, professor of Secondary Education and Educational Technology; Penny Craig, Teaching Professor of Special Education; and Henry Yu, Assistant Professor of Educational Technology proudly accepted the award on behalf of the college.

This recognition reflects the innovation, collaboration, and dedication of our entire Teachers College community. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this achievement possible!

Teachers College is celebrating two major recognitions for excellence in preparing future educators to teach reading.

Ball State University, Department of Elementary Education Ball State Department of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies and Ball State University Department of Special Education programs earned the highest overall rating of “Strong” in every area evaluated.

Ball State’s undergraduate elementary teacher preparation program also received an A+ from the National Council on Teacher Quality.

These recognitions highlight the strength of our evidence-based literacy instruction and our commitment to preparing educators who can help all learners succeed.

Meet Serenity Dutton, a Fall 2026 senior majoring in Elementary Education with minors in Psychology and Counseling.

Inspired by the teachers who encouraged her to be her best, Serenity hopes to create that same sense of support and belonging for her future students.

As a Resident Assistant, student leader, and mentor, Serenity is already making a positive impact across campus.
