UPDATE FOR WASTEWATER 101, LLC - The Maine DEP has approved Watewater 101's ON-LINE Courses for Continuing Education. If you are in Maine and don't have time or ability to attend a conference or a live training course you can now sign up for one of the following courses for continuing education.
Phosporous Removal - 3 TCH
Tertiary Treatment - 12 TCH
Activated Sludge Control - 6 TCH
Basic Math Course - 4 TCH
Wastewater Certification Review - 20 TCH

To maintain Active status, Maine certified wastewater operators must renew every two years by completing the following by the renewal date:

Provide documentation of the required 18 Training Contact Hours (TCHs).
Pay the renewal fee (currently $125).
Update contact information, including email address.

To renew, all certified operators are required to obtain at least 18 TCHs of Maine DEP-approved continuing education training during the two-year renewal cycle. View the Maine DEP Approved Training Guideline.

Up to six (6) TCHs may be a combination of facility management and/or safety training that relates to wastewater operations.

The exception is Spray Irrigation Treatment System-1 (SITS-1) operators who must obtain six (6) technical TCHs every two years.

A course cannot be repeated in two consecutive renewal cycles except for safety training.

A course cannot be taken twice during a renewal period.
TCHs cannot be carried over into the next renewal cycle.

Update to CIOA Meeting for September:

Good morning,

Update: We will be meeting at Red Bridge Park first for the presentations. The Town has reserved the building there. Then we'll be moving to the WWTP for the tour. Parking at the WWTP is available inside the fenced in area at the plant (yellow highlighted) and overflow parking area if needed at the ball field (yellow highlighted). Maps of both locations are attached along with an updated agenda. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Help me say Congratulations to Dominic Guzman for passing the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's Wastewater Operator Class II exam. Dominic is an Operator at the Gary Sanitary District Water Pollution Control Facility. Now he has his eyes set on the Class IV Certification! In the meanwhile he needs to become a mentor to someone coming up in this field. Again, help me say Congratulations on a Job Well Done!
