Ms. Cortney’s preschool class got a new class pet! The boys & girls voted and picked out the perfect name for their new fish—Bubbles! 🫧

The fun doesn’t stop at meeting our new class pet! The students have been reading books about fish, learning about what fish need to live and grow, and exploring a sensory station filled with fun, fish-themed materials! We love turning our students’ interests into hands-on learning experiences!

Thank you to all of our preschool families who stopped by yesterday evening for Meet the Teacher Night!

Our wonderful preschool teachers have been working so hard to make everything perfect as we get ready to welcome our preschoolers for a new school year! It was so much fun visiting with all of our AOH families, meeting new faces, reconnecting with returning families, and seeing all of our excited preschoolers!

We are so grateful for each and every one of our AOH families and feel so lucky to be part of your child’s preschool journey. We can’t wait to watch our little learners grow, learn, make new friends, and create so many special memories this year!

A big thank you to all of our amazing preschool teachers and Ms. Megan for making another Meet the Teacher Night such a success! We appreciate all of the time, love, and hard work they put into making this evening so special for our families. ❤️

STATEWIDE FLOOD RECOVERY ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

As communities across Indiana continue recovering from recent flooding, several resources are available to help Hoosiers who have been impacted.

Available assistance may include:

🏠 Temporary Housing Assistance – Grants may be available to help eligible residents transition from shelters into temporary housing, including hotels, apartments, and other accommodations. Dial 211

💵 State Disaster Relief Fund – Eligible Hoosiers may qualify for up to $5,000 in emergency assistance for basic needs such as food, clothing, and other eligible expenses. Call IDHS at (317) 232-2222

🥫 Emergency SNAP Replacement – SNAP recipients who lost food because of flooding, storms, or power outages may qualify for replacement benefits.
FSSA Benefits Portal 1-800-403-0864

☎️ Indiana 211 – Dial 211 to report damage, locate recovery resources, and connect with assistance for food, shelter, cleanup supplies, emotional support, and other needs.

🏛️ State & Federal Response – FEMA and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security continue damage assessment efforts in impacted communities to determine what additional state and federal resources may be needed.

**SUBMIT & VIEW FLOOD RECOVERY RESOURCES**

As Delaware County continues to recover from the recent flooding, we are working to maintain a centralized list of resources, services, and organizations available to assist individuals, families, and communities impacted by the disaster.

You can **view available flood recovery resources** or **submit a resource that is not currently listed** by visiting:

If you know of an organization, service, program, or other resource that may help those affected by the flooding, please share it with us. Submitted resources will be reviewed and added as appropriate.

Heart of Indiana United Way has launched a Long-Term Flood Recovery Fund to help individuals and families across Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Madison and Randolph counties recover and rebuild.

100% of every gift will go directly to long-term flood recovery. Donors can choose to support a specific county or give where the need is greatest.

Delaware County is now under an ORANGE Watch level travel advisory due to the ongoing flooding

This means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a "watch" local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.

Preschool Parents!

Meet the Teacher Night is postponed for this evening due to the weather.

Our new date will be Wednesday, August 19. All families will keep the same time slots they originally signed up for.

Delaware County is under a YELLOW (Advisory) travel advisory due to ongoing flooding.

The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid these areas.

URGENT: Extreme rainfall is causing widespread flooding across Delaware County. Please avoid all low-lying areas and do not attempt to drive through flooded roads. We have already received multiple 911 calls regarding stranded vehicles—please remember: turn around, don't drown.

Sandbag stations are now available at the following locations:
* Delaware County Highway Department (East Jackson Street/State Road 32)
* Delaware County Fairgrounds (near the maintenance building)

Please bring your own shovel. Our Highway Department is responding to flood-related calls as quickly as possible. Stay safe and monitor local updates.
