Today, ARCH 626 (Preservation Research Methods) took a trip to the Muncie Carnegie Library! Students got a hands-on look at some of the resources, such as city directories, newspapers on microfilm, WPA indexes, and county histories that the library has, which are helpful when researching a place or person. A special thanks to Sara at the Carnegie Library for showing us the resources that the library has available!

A huge round of applause to this student team for winning FIRST PLACE in the 2026 Charles E. Peterson Prize competition for their drawings on the Silas Moffitt House!
The Peterson Prize is a student competition of measured drawings, with the intention of raising awareness about historic buildings and structures in the United States, as well as enhancing the HABS/HAER/HALS measured drawing collection at the Library of Congress.
Once again, a huge congratulations to this team!

After four years of collaboration, research, and design, the Ball State University Center for Historic Preservation has officially presented the Sheridan Downtown Façade Design Guidelines to the Town of Sheridan.

The guidelines provide property owners, business owners, and community leaders with practical, illustrated guidance for preserving and enhancing the character of Sheridan's historic downtown while supporting continued investment and revitalization.

This milestone reflects years of partnership and dedication by many individuals who contributed their expertise throughout the project. We appreciate the Town of Sheridan for its commitment to preserving its historic downtown and look forward to seeing these guidelines help shape Sheridan's future.

Our Preservation Studio class had the chance to visit and tour Wabash, Indiana! what a beautiful town! we were able to visit the Eagles Theatre, the Honeywell Center, and tour Downtown! We recommend a visit!

This week Our Urban History class/ ARCH 646 visited the Athenaeum in Downtown Indianapolis! What a cool building with an interesting German American history.

Did you know that the Germans Immigrants at the time valued highly physical and mental strength as a means to be a good citizen. The Athenaeum was built to support those two goals. It served as a gymnasium education hall, and club house for these German settlers.

Did you know that Downtown Muncie Hosts First Thursday every month? The Center for Historic Preservation was open during Aprils' First Thursday! It was great meeting members of the community, viewing artwork, and sharing what the center does!

This week Our Urban History class/ ARCH 646 visited the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Indianapolis, In! What a beautiful piece of art and dedication to the Civil War!
