It's Feature Friday, and we're so pumped to bring the wonderful news that Provost Marri, has awarded our very own Liping Lu, Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the Dept of Nutrition & Health Science, $25,000 from the Bracken Environmental Fund for her research proposal: Does Intake of Long-chain Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in the Preconception Period Modify the Association of Prenatal Exposure to Air Pollution Particulate Matter with Preterm Birth? We will bring you more as Dr. Lu's research develops this semester and beyond.

One week from today you can join in making history by attending the very first Elaine Damler Nutrition Lecture, which is September 24 at 6 p.m. in Health Professions Building room 103/A. This lecture features the work of Dr. Ariana M. Chao, PhD, FNP-BC, RN. The full title of her talk is Treating Obesity as a Chronic Disease: What Works, What's New, and What's Next. Chao, is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine. She serves as the Director of Research at the Healthful Eating, Activity and Weight Program at Johns Hopkins where she also practices clinically as an obesity medicine nurse practitioner. She is internationally recognized for her leadership in obesity treatment.

We can't really tell you why the electric went off this afternoon for about 20 minutes or so... but we can't really rule out anything, it probably wasn't a squirrel. But we are happy to report we have restored power and are back to business as usual.

Our annual Dean’s List celebration is in full swing. Congratulations to all our students and their families for a job well done! We are so glad you could join us today, and hope the rest of Family Weekend is a blast. We heard the rain is going to clear and it will be a great day for Football. Go Cards.

NO RSVP required, but if there was one, we hope you'll say YES to our Block Party to kick off Family Weekend. It's a shine only event, but the weather is supposed to be sunny on Friday.

We know we're going into a Holiday Weekend, but we hope you'll join us for our block party next Friday September 11, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. We'll have live music, free popcorn and snow cones, yard games, food trucks with additional food for purchase, button making, plinko, photo booth, and in lieu of the dunk tank, we will have a Pie in the Face booth with employee volunteers. It will be fun for all ages, bring your family and friends and help us kick off Ball State's Family Weekend!

These nurse practitioners serve as faculty within our nursing programs and are supporting the as the clinic expands services to provide Primary Care!

If you need an annual physical or are looking for a new provider to take care of managing common conditions like your blood pressure, or diabetes, the Healthy Lifestyle Center is here for you. If you are looking for another place to go when you are sick and need to be seen, the Nurse Practitioners at the HLC can help with that too. At present, they are set up to bill Medicaid, Medicare, and Anthem insurance. If you have another insurance provider, they can bill them as an out of network provider.
