Today, Ivy Tech Community College Muncie honors Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day. On June 19, 1865—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation—federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, ensuring that all enslaved people were finally declared free.

All Ivy Tech Muncie campus locations are closed today, June 19.

Classes and normal business hours will resume Monday, June 22.
