Welcome to our udderly rainy Wednesday! Today the greenhands had their fall semester CDE of Dairy Cattle Judging. This is a good one to start with because it introduces first timers to livestock judging with one species, 6 classes of different age Holsteins and being able to answer questions on two different classes. Champions Choice Horse Judging Invitational was today in Salina. We had a Senior team (10th-12th) and a Junior team (7th-9th).

Senior team high placer was Ainsley W. In 4th and Peyton R. In 10th. Kyle C. was our third team member.

Our Junior team placed 1st with Jhace G. at 3rd place, Clayton P. at 4th and Josie K. at 8th.

Good job Mulvane FFA!

Tuesday, September 22nd the Intro to Ag and Ag Entrepreneurship classes traveled to the John C Pair Horticulture Center in Haysville for their annual working field trip of harvesting sweet potatoes. These sweet potatoes are used to create sweet potato slips that are sold to organic farmers far and wide.

The crop this year was exceptionally good. Sweet potatoes like long hot, dry days and Kansas certainly provided that this summer in spades.

We also had a brief tour at the end to see what studies the horticulture center is participating in right now.

These ag students did a great job!
