As we approach the end of the academic year, I would like to provide you with some important information about the upcoming ATLAS state tests, which your child will be taking early next week. The ATLAS test is an essential assessment tool used across the state to evaluate educational progress in grades 7 through 10 in core subjects.
What is the ATLAS Test?
The ATLAS test, or Assessment of Teaching and Learning Achievement Standards, is designed to measure your student’s proficiency in key academic areas such as Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. These tests help us understand how well our students are learning the material compared to state standards and guide our efforts to tailor educational strategies that meet the needs of all students.
Testing Schedule:
End of Course Biology and 7th/8th grade Science: May 13, 2024
End of Course Algebra/Geometry and 7th/8th grade Math: May 14, 2024
English Language Arts for grades 7-10: May 15, 2024
We encourage our students to get a good night's sleep and have a healthy breakfast on testing days. No specific preparation is needed, as the test covers content they have been learning throughout the year.
Accessing Your Student’s Scores:
Understanding how your child is performing academically is crucial. To ensure you have access to your child’s ATLAS scores, we will attach detailed instructions and a unique login credential to your student’s report card at the end of the semester. Here’s how you can access the scores over the summer:
Login Information: Attached to their report card, you will find a login sheet containing your unique credentials (the website and their access code).
Access Portal: During the summer, visit the designated ATLAS score portal (website provided on the login sheet). This portal will become active once scores are available, typically in mid-July.
Support: If you encounter any difficulties in logging in or accessing the scores, please contact our school office at 479-997-1363, and we will be happy to assist you.
Importance of Participation:
Participation in the ATLAS test is crucial as it not only reflects your child’s growth but also helps us as a school to refine our teaching methods and resources. Your child’s performance on these tests also contributes to our understanding of where additional support may be needed, both at the school and district levels.
