This week the team started their tryouts with the safety test on Monday and Wednesday! 33 cadets took the first step in becoming a champion! Today was their first day in the range! As always we start with prone. Literally right before I walked in the range Lila Larrow approached me and asked if she could give the prone class and Jordyn Stapleton would be her demonstrator. Of course I said yes. Those two young ladies did an amazing job showing the future team members the intricacies of this position! They did an amazing job! I’m extremely proud of their performance! The future looks very bright at Mulberry!

A CALL FOR THREE-POSITION RIFLE RULE RECOMMENDATIONS

Three-Position Air Rifle shooting has become the most popular Junior rifle competition in the USA.

Since many Juniors who compete in Three-Position Air Rifle also compete in USA Shooting competitions that are primarily governed by ISSF Rules, Three-Position Rules are closely coordinated with USA Shooting and ISSF Rules.

The current 15th Edition 2024-2026 rulebook is due to be replaced by a 16th Edition 2026-2028 rulebook to be released in September of this year. The National Council rulebook revision process is taking place this summer and is being coordinated by the CMP.

Anyone who participates or has an interest in Three-Position Air Rifle competition is invited to submit recommendations for rule changes or clarifications regarding rule interpretations for consideration by the Council during this rulebook revision process.

IF YOU HAVE A RECOMMENDATION FOR A THREE-POSITION AIR RIFLE RULE CHANGE OR CLARIFICATION, PLEASE SUBMIT IT TO: [email protected]

Today they competed in a 3x20 match. There were some ups and downs during the match. All in all they learned something from the camp. They shot a lot of pellets over those 2 days and they have the sores to prove it! In 2 weeks we’ll be back to our normal training and I know they will be better because of the camp. Thank you to Bull Robinson and the CMP for hosting the camp!

I took a tour of Saint Marks Basilica in Venice and noticed this rifle next to the Virgin Mary. The rifle was given as an offering and the church decided to display it. The rifle was placed here only in 1849 by Venetian sailors who survived an Austrian bomb exploded in Marghera, near the city of Mestre. I thought it was an interesting fact!

A team isn’t set for next year but I wanted to do a practice 3x20 to see where they stand after a few practices. Now keep in mind that they haven’t practiced much in the last 2 months and summer practices are voluntary. They shot 2116. First one without Peyton and they didn’t do too bad! If this would’ve been a sanctioned match then Frank would have had a new personal record of 524! Great job Frank!

June 1-5 cadets from around central Florida participated in our annual JROTC camp called JCLC. It’s designed to challenge the cadets mentally and physically! This year was no exception. In my 14 years doing this, this one was the best! The weather cooperated, the cadets were motivated, the training was awesome and the food was actually pretty good! All in all Mulberry’s cadets received many compliments on their perseverance, attitude, and being a team player! Awesome job by the cadre, Boy Scouts, and volunteers!
